As our environment becomes increasingly global the need for real time spatial information is a necessity. The ability of government agencies to have access to information is critical to managing our infrastructure both today and in the future. A GIS will enable multiple government agencies to utilize geo-spatial information that is archived in a database, thus reducing the cost of each agency generating the same information.
